COUSINS ARE THOSE CHILDHOOD PLAYMATES
WHO GROW UP TO BE
FOREVER FRIENDS.
Three yeas ago, my AMAZING AUNTS started a new tradition. Over the first weekend in March, they invite all the nieces to a HUGE SLEEPOVER PARTY for 3-4 days in Denver, Colorado. This is where Aunt Vera lives and she has a big basement where we put up enough beds for all of us. On the other half of the basement is where we all hang out to do craft projects:).
Every year, different people can and cannot make it but when they
are not with us, we look forward to them showing up the next year.
This weekend is filled with laughing, tons of eating, pop drinking, baking our old traditional favorites (like waffle cookies), shopping, crafting...
and CELEBRATING anything we can think of to celebrate!!
This year, Jana fixed up the mess I had made of my hair:).

We seem to find ourselves in the
kitchen many times during the day:).
It is truly the greatest party of the year!!
This year all the Aunts sat us girls down and
told us
The Three Little Kittens story.
They told it as ONLY the best story telling
aunts in the ENTIRE world could.
We were all very anxious to see
what they were going to do or say next.
At the end of the story they tossed a bunch of HOMEMADE
mittens out on the floor for each of us girls.

I am told it took her
hours to make them all and her hands hurt
forever after she finished.

These women are so wonderful!
The first year I went it was one of my favorite things. Each one of these special women have so many of the same mannerisms as my mom. Being around them reminds me of her in so many ways. They took such good care of us from fixing our favorite meals , making sure we have enough covers at night and just sitting to visit with us for hours. They act as if YOU are the most important person in the whole world. My mom was just like that also. Everyone thought they were her favorite. That is a gift they all have.
Overall, they take care of us and love us just like they were our own moms.
How blessed we all are to have them in our lives!
The night we all love and look forward to (except for probably
Vera's husband Kendall who is very patient and just
goes to his room for the evening) is the dance party.
We are all crazy and loud 'til late
into the night or next morning:).
Then comes the day we all have to go home but it's okay because
we all know it is just a year away until
WE ARE ALL TOGETHER AGAIN;)
Cousins are connected HEART to HEART,
distance and time can't
break them apart!
