Our ward had 6 kids leave on missions all within a few months of each other. The moms of these young men and young lady, have decided to get together for lunch once a month. We also get together as families for dinner sometimes. It is a fun time, visiting and talk about our missionaries. One of the things that we did in December is each family wrote letters to each others missionaries to let them know we were thinking about them.
I know this picture is blurry, but I love it!
It brings great memories to my mind.
One of the things I loved about Riley returning home is, after the
younger kids would leave to school, Ry would sit in front of the fireplace
and act like he had nothing better to do than visit with his mom.
We visited about and discussed everything.
I loved learning more about the details
of his mission that are too hard to explain in an EMail.
I loved it, and I miss him to bits!
He kept telling JD and I that we needed to go to the Temple.
We were able to go one day with Riley and it was a great day.
One of the topics of conversation that day in the car was my Book Of Mormon class.
I asked about the question in my class,
Was Abanidi successful as a missionary?
Riley immediately responded...
"YES, think about how different the BOM would be today without the story of Abinadi. Because of his courage and ability to be a missionary, Alma was converted, and he was able to teach many others and the story goes on. "
Daxon (Elder Phippen 2) is doing fabulous in Canada.
He is learning Farsi, meeting many new people, I love that smile of his!
Hello Everyone!!
Another transfer has came to a close and i will be getting a "new" companion. I will be serving with Elder Auerbach up here in Farsi North!! This will be our 3rd transfer together so it will be a lot of fun!! We had a great 2 transfers last time we served together. We are both excited for this transfer not only cause its a fun companionship but also because the work is great!!
Yesterday we had a Persian baptism for the man that i told you about last week! We were so excited to see him be baptized. It was such a great baptism service and a lot of members were able to come and support. We were also able to have a lot of other Persians there. One of them brought one of their friends and we are going to start to teach her. The one lady who came is getting baptized next week so we are super excited for that.
This week we were able to teach a lesson to this one guy and it went great!! We started off by talking to him about what he knows about the church. He knew like everything!! He had met with missionaries in the past. He had contact with the church when he lived in Korea and France. He took most of the missionary discussions and he knows a lot of the stuff we teach. He told us about how he thinks the church can help him so we are starting to teach him. We are super excited to see him and his family progress.
This week we were also able to have one of our recent converts go to the Temple to do baptisms. It was so great and we are going to try and get a Persian group together to go to together. The spirit was so great in the Temple and he loved it. One of the Persian members was able to bring him and his wife who we are teaching right now. She loved seeing the Temple and she is very close to Baptism!!
Well thats about all for this week. We are having a lot of blessings come out of nowhere!!! We are super happy that the Persian work is moving forward so well right now!!!
-Elder Daxon Phippen
I am really thankful for his companion, without him
we would not have any pictures. Daxon is not the picture taker Riley and Alyssa was.
I am thankful for all the fun missionary experiences he is having.
Love him and miss him to bits!
