This morning I was up at 5:30 am with a desire to have personal time before my kiddos woke up. It is amazing the amount of things you can fit into your day when you get out of bed at that hour. Typically we have been letting the kids sleep in, today I wanted to see how we would all function on a little bit of a schedule. Breakfast was at 8 am, the kids were doing homework by 9 and I managed to squeeze in a workout.
I realize we have MANY things to dislike and mourn over due to the virus that is in the world right now. Today I noticed a few things that I love about it. I love it when my daughter is struggling with math and without being asked her brother teaches her an easier way to do it. I love when I am cleaning the garage and Britton comes outside to help me because he wanted a break from homework. Those moments are the ones I love. I love that so many people are out and about together as families. Today we went for a walk and ran into a relative. We stayed 6 feet apart, as we visited for the remainder of the walk. (We may have forced the kids to join us)
We continued to pass others out walking as well, I love that. I hope once we all go back to living regular lives, we continue to see numerous families spending time together in the outdoors. I love that as I drive around many families are out in the yard working together and playing together.
Three of our children have left the home, and man it happens in a blink. When kids pass grade school you hardly ever see them. Friends, work, school and activities take priority. Home becomes a stopping ground for eating and sleeping. I am selfishly loving these precious moments I have these kids all to myself. I love that my husband is blessed to work from home for the time being. I look forward to when they can go back to real life and friends because I know they all miss it so much, but for now, I am kinda loving this time we have together.
I have discovered that the NO bedtime rule needs to change. As much as I am loving being together, I have my limits:). Tonight we came to an agreement that the kids can stay up until 9:30, but then they have to be in their rooms and read until they go to bed. We will see how it goes.
Ashlynn and I tried to make bath bombs today
Can you say,
NAILED IT!!!
