COVID-19 DAY28 HAPPY EASTER

Dear Phippen Kids,
When Dad was in Iraq some 10 years ago, he had the opportunity to interview a battalion
commander that said something that was quite profound. He asked him what motivating
final words or thoughts he would give all of the Soldiers under his command. He said, “just by
virtue of you being here when this conflict was raging, ensures that you are inextricably
woven into the fabric of history.”
We echo the sentiment to all of you. This is an extremely memorable time in the history of
the world. Trials and suffering are out there, for certain. There are people without work.
Families are losing homes and businesses. But even in the midst of all of the craziness, there
is so much joy that can be found, and blessings recognized, in our everyday lives.
Our family has been richly blessed. Riley and Madeline got married just before quarantines
and isolations were put in place. Alyssa and Jake’s baby Luke is healthy and strong. Daxon
continues to serve faithfully and will soon return home. Britton and Ashlynn are joy to have
around and are making the absolute best out of being stuck at home. We all have food on our
table and roofs over our heads. We are forever grateful for the blessings which Heavenly
Father has bestowed upon us and testify that he will continue to heap blessings on us such
that “we will not have room enough to receive it.” We are promised in the Book of Mormon,
“that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build
your foundation . . . a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.”
Nearly 2000 years ago, the Savior went into the Garden of Gethsemane and suffered the
Great Atonement. He took upon Himself all of the pain and trials and suffering and struggles
that we are going through. If we accept His offering, and build our lives centered on His
teachings and example, nothing we go through will have power over us. We will come out on
top, victorious.
We know that the Savior atoned and was crucified and buried in the tomb. We also know,
and testify, that He rose triumphantly from the tomb on that sacred Easter morning. We
know that He guides this Church through a living prophet, President Nelson, and 12 Apostles.
They will lead us and guide us through these turbulent, yet exciting times. May we all strive
to follow their counsel and stay on the covenant path.
We love you. We pray for you. And we are blessed to have each of you as part of our family.
We pray that the Lord’s blessings will continue to be abundant in your lives, this day and
always.
Love forever,
Mom & Dad
